The winner's press conference
Directly after Denmark were announced the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2014, Emmelie de Forest and the Danish delegation joined the press in the press conference area.
The Winner’s Press Conference began promptly. The hostess first off congratulated the Danish team on victory, and then, opened the floor for questions from national and international media.
Here is a look into the Q&A session:
- How did you manage the pressure?
“Of course, it has been stressful sometimes, but there were also wonderful things that happened to me. Thank you to the people that believed in me and believed in “Only Teardrops.” Denmark believed in me and sent me to this amazing contest. And for Europe, who voted for us. It’s amazing.”
- What was the craziest moment tonight?
“When they told us that we won, I didn’t understand it. I just saw the butterfly with the Danish flag, and they stood up and said, ‘We won, we won!’ I didn’t understand before that.”
- How did it feel for you to be so close to home?
“It was overwhelming and I could really feel the fans, the audience, and the people in the arena, all the energy. It made me feel even greater. It made the song even better, with such a backup from the audience.”
- Which countries did you fear the most?
“I was of course very afraid of Sweden and Norway, and also, Ukraine and Azerbaijan.”
- Will you perform “Only Teardrops” in the EuroClub tonight?
Emmelie jokingly responded, “If you buy me a White Russian, maybe I will do it there.”
After the Q&A session, Jon Ola Sand, Executive Supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest, expressed his belief that Denmark will offer a magnificent show and that many cities are capable of hosting the contest in 2014.
The press conference then concluded, and a photo opportunity was provided for the press.
