Tijana Dapčević: "'To the Sky' is a song about love, friendship, and togetherness"
After an interview back in September, we got to know Macedonian entrant, Tijana Dapčević, early on. Since then, we have seen the release of her song for Copenhagen, and a music video in the works.
In this follow-up interview, we got the chance to ask Tijana more about her Eurovision 2014 entry, as well as her upcoming performance in May.
Hello again, Tijana! Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule.
- How did you come to work with Elena Risteska? How was it?
Elena Risteska and I have been friends for many years and we are colleagues, of course. She is great and I am really happy she is part of this. She wrote the lyrics for the Macedonian version of “To the Sky” (“Tamu kaj sto pripagjam”).
- What made you choose an uptempo pop song over a ballad?
I love ballads but I love “fast” songs more. It’s more “me” and I want to make a great party on the stage.
- What is the meaning of “To The Sky” and what is it about?
“To the Sky” is a song about love, friendship, and togetherness – things that give us life energy and enthusiasm to go on whatever happens to us in our everyday lives. If we come together, as lovers or as friends, there is no mountain that we cannot climb, no goal that we cannot achieve.
- Do you have a special performance of the song planned for Eurovision?
We are working very hard on the performance and doing our best to make it perfect. We will take everyone up to the sky.
- Will you be alone on stage or will you have dancers in Eurovision?
No, I won’t. My sister, Tamara Todevska, will be one of the people who are going to join me on the stage. She will be a backing vocalist.
- When is the release of the music video for “To The Sky?”
We have just finished the recording of the video, so it will be released around the 10th of April.
Nice talking to you again, Tijana! See you in Copenhagen!
Tijana Dapčević will perform 11th in the second semi-final on May 8 in Copenhagen, Denmark.
