Ukraine to ban certain Russian artists from Eurovision 2017

Ukraine to ban certain Russian artists from Eurovision 2017

According to the Facebook page of Ukrainian MP Anton Herashchenko, certain Russian artists that are on the list of banned persons from entering Ukraine (for threats to national security) will be banned from entering Ukraine during the Eurovision Song Contest 2017.

“We have the right to establish rules on the territory of our country. It’s for Ukraine to decide, who’s allowed to cross its border and who’s not. The same applies to the Russian mass media. Thus, in case Kremlin decides, that someone like Chicherina or Kobzon should participate in the song contest, we will simply ban them from entering Ukraine. We will do this because they’re on our stop list of people threatening national security,” Herashchenko wrote.

Yulia Chicherina and Joseph Kobzon are both on a list banning them from entering Ukraine. Chicherina has been active verbally and physically in Luhansk, Ukraine, supporting the terrorists. Kobzon has been vocal from the beginning on the position of Russia taking Crimea into their federation.

Herashchenko went on to state that the list should be updated, for it is outdated with no revisions since December 2015.
