Ukraine begins search for Eurovision 2016 entry!
Eric Nocito

The national broadcaster of Ukraine, NTU, has joined forces with another Ukrainian broadcaster, STB, in choosing the comeback artist for Ukraine in Eurovision!

And Ukraine is planning a big selection for their big return, involving several different stages, leading up to a final date in February 2016.

Currently, we are in the first stage, which began on November 11, 2015 and will continue until January 15, 2016. In this stage, entries may be submitted through applications and then auditions in six of Ukraine’s biggest cities. Between 20 and 40 entries will be chosen to move on to the second stage.

In the second stage, which will be held in February 2016, seven to eight entries will compete in three or four semi-finals. The winners of the second stage will selected by the viewers and a jury.

Two to three finalists will be chosen from each semi-final, bringing the total number in the final to eight to 12 finalists. The semi-finals will be broadcast live on channels UA Pershyj and STB.

During the third stage, which will take place in February 2016, a final will be broadcast live, where a winner will be selected by a combination of the votes from the viewers and the jury. The winner will go on to represent Ukraine in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016.

For the rules of the Ukrainian selection can be found on the NTU website. All interested artists, composers, and songwriters can submit their entries for consideration here.

Below is the schedule of the auditions of the first stage:

December 5 and 6:  Zaporizhia and Kharkiv

December 12 and 13:  Odesa and L’viv

December 19 and 20:  Dnipropetrovsk and Kyiv
