Ukraine unlikely to compete in 2017 if Russia wins Eurovision 2016

Ukraine unlikely to compete in 2017 if Russia wins Eurovision 2016

The Director General of the Ukraine’s national broadcaster has stated on Facebook that if Russia wins the contest on Saturday, Ukraine will most likely withdraw from next year’s contest.

The comment loosely translates as:  “It is true that we must think of an alternative. If the winner is a man named Lazarev – I think next year Ukraine will refuse to participate in the competition again.”

Russia and Ukraine are both two of the favourites to win Eurovision 2016, with Sergey’s song being the favourite of bookmakers since it was released.
