Ulla Essendrop and Abdel Aziz Mahmoud to host press conferences
When the press conferences kick off on April 28, following the first rehearsals, it will be Ulla Essendrop and Abdel Aziz Mahmoud who will run the show at the press center.
DR announced this today.
Europe got to know Ulla Essendrop back in January, when she hosted the allocation draw with Tine Gøtzsche at Copenhagen City Hall, receiving a lot of positive feedback from the many live stream viewers. She also hosted the events at the Heads of Delegations meeting in March.
About the press conferences and her job, she said to dr.dk: “The press conferences have to be given space to unfold by themselves. We’re not supposed to ask the contestants 10 questions if the press has all kinds of questions they want to ask. We can’t be taking up all the space, so we have to get a feeling of what the mood is for.”
Abdel Aziz Mahmoud is a journalist who has worked for DR for several years, both in front and behind the camera, now adding the Eurovision experience to his resume.
Abdel adds: “Everything about this show has to show Denmark from its best side. And that’s everything from set design, to the shows, the hosts, and the content. Ulla and I also have to show what’s best about Denmark and that’s among other things being able to talk and ask about anything.”
The team will moderate the many press conferences that go down at the press center on Eurovision Island, where as many as 1500-2000 journalists attend.
