Unheilig, Oceana, and more to compete to represent Germany
Today, seven out of eight acts that will compete to represent Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 were revealed.
German broadcaster NDR, leading German record companies, and production company Brainpool were responsible for selecting the seven entries and have been able to bring in some big names.
The 7 are:
- Madeline Juno
- The Baseballs
The band Unheilig is a very successful, award-winning band in the German, Austrian, and Swiss area. Headed by singer Bernd Heinrich Graf, the band won the Bundesvision Song Contest in 2010, a show based on the Eurovision Song Contest, with German states instead of countries. Graf has previously stated that he would be proud to enter with a song in German.
Also participating is Oceana, who is quite popular in Eastern Europe, especially Poland. She even participated in the Polish version of “Dancing with the Stars.” This also lead to her being chosen to write the official song of the 2012 UEFA European Football Championships, called “Endless Summer.” The song was a big hit in many European countries.
The 8th act will be a young talent wildcard, chosen through online voting.
