It’s Vienna 2015!
After months of speculation, ORF announced their choice for the host city of the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 as the capital Vienna!
After a final committee meeting yesterday, it was determined that of the three remaining finalists in the running (Vienna, Graz, and Innsbruck), Vienna was the best equipped to host the large-scale event.
Live from Wiener Stadthalle
The venue has also been revealed and the favorite to win, the Wiener Stadthalle, has been chosen. With an estimated capacity of 16.000 audience members, the arena can house slightly more than what we saw in Denmark and Sweden in previous years, with their roughly 11.000 people.
The problems regarding the venue already being booked for the required period have been cleared and the arena will be ready for the weeks of rehearsals prior to Eurovision week.
The arena is the go-to choice for most visiting performing artists, having hosted Lady GaGa, Britney Spears, Christina Aquilera, Katy Perry, Rihanna, and many more. Being situated just outside the city center, it is easily accessed by public transportation.
Ticket information and much more will follow later in the year. The 60th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest will take place May 19, 21, and 23 in Vienna, Austria!
