YOHIO and Ellen Benediktson directly to the Swedish final!

| On 01, Feb 2014

The Swedish selection Melodifestivalen kicked off tonight, with eight acts fighting for the two spots in the final.

After performing their songs, the first round of voting eliminated Alvaro Estrella in sixth place, Mahan Moin in seventh place, and Sylvester Schlegel in eighth place.

Voting continued, as the Swedes took the chance to poke some fun at the Danes who host next year’s Eurovision Song Contest.

YOHIO got the first spot in the final, before he got to perform his song “To the End” a second time. Linus Svenning was sent to the second chance show Andra Chansen, along with Helena Paparizou. This left the last final spot to Ellen Benediktson, meaning Elisa Lindström got eliminated, achieving fifth place.

The results:

1. ”To the End” – YOHIO – Final
2. ”Aleo” – Mahan Moin – Eliminated
3. ”Bröder” – Linus Svenning – Second chance
4. ”Casanova” – Elisa Lindström – Eliminated
5. ”Bedroom” – Alvaro Estrella – Eliminated
6. ”Songbird” – Ellen Benediktson – Final
7. ”Bygdens son” – Sylvester Schlegel – Eliminated
8. ”Survivor” – Helena Paparizou – Second chance

This was the first of four semi-finals and a second chance show, before the Swedish representative is found on March 8 in Friends Arena, Stockholm.
