Zoë will represent Austria at Eurovision 2016!
During the ORF broadcast of Wer singt für Österreich? (Who sings for Austria) it was revealed that Zoë won the contest with the song “Loin d’ici” (Far From Here).
This will mark the first time that German speaking Austria will send a song completely in the French language.
Ten Become Two
The night began with 10 contestants vying to reach the final round. The contestants were:
- Bella Wagner
- Céline Roscheck & Farina Miss
- Elly V
- Orry Jackson
- Sankil Jones
- Vincent Bueno
A combination of jury and public votes would take the list of 10 to 2, with the two acts moving on being Elly V and Zoë.
Zoë Takes It All
In the final round, which was purely decided by public vote, Zoë would end up winning the contest with “Loin d’ici“.
A Little on Zoë
Coming from a musical family and attending a French high school, Zoë was no stranger to Austrians. The 19 year old has appeared on various shows in Austria throughout her life, and came in third place last year to represent the country at ESC in Vienna but finally took the crown in 2016.
A New Hope
Austria is looking to place better than their null points last year at the contest having just only won the contest the year before. Perhaps sending a completely French song might just do the trick.
